Bone Black also named ivory black, animal charcoal, is a special black pigment, initially produced by heating ivory, used for artists' color. Modern process is heating treated animal bones to high temperatures in the absence of air. Bone black possesses high pigment performance, as it is a fine pure bluish black, easy to be dispersed, good storage stability, no seeding after dispersed. Bone black has good light resistance, heat resistance, and chemical resistance. Bone black is also a good hydrophile pigment which provide excellent performance in water-based coating and water-based ink.
